Somewhere With You: Coming Soon!

Well... I mentioned earlier that I was working on something new... this makes it really real to me:

I don't know what it is, but there's something about having a banner that makes the fic seem "real". For weeks and weeks it has existed solely in my mind and gdoc accessible only to me, but now that I've shared it with a few close friends I can feel it beginning to take on a life of its own. The same was for Ride and EoEC. So, I would like to thank Ellie Mae for this very wonderful reality check of poor Eddie sitting at a bar with nothing but his memories of Bella to keep him company. I love it, and I love you too, dear!

Summertime and There's More to Love

Yes, there's new material on the blog!

There's More to Love was a result of listening to Adele like the apocalypse was at hand and a challenge to enter a FFN contest about loving yourself at any size. Needless to say that I didn't win, but I loved writing this, and its one of my favorite pieces.

Summertime broke a long dry spell; this idea came to me as I drove to work down beautiful A1A. NKOTB was blaring on the radio and I couldn't resist writing this short little love story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I'm currently working on a new fic called Somewhere with You, and I hope to start publishing it on FFN by the end of June. And I will of couse post it here as well.

The Emasculation of Edward Cullen

This has gotten out of hand. What started out as a plot bunny has morphed into a full-fledged, air breathing fic with a life of it's own!

It started, sadly enough, when I found myself mis-reading "The Emancipation Proclamation" as "The Emasculation Proclamation." Yes, I know, I'm stupid, but after it happened once it happened a LOT. I started thinking about what type of fic would warrant that kind of title.

And Golden Boy was born!

Now I spend my nights dreaming up horrible things to do to my favorite Twilight character and I'm enjoying every second of it.

Ride has not been abandoned. Believe me, I am furiously working to get a new chapter out this weekend. It's just that Golden Boy is a bit louder than Chopperward and Bikerella at the moment. But I promise the next Ride chapter will be worth the wait. (Or so the Pre-Riders tell me.)

Meet My Masen

Ever wondered what our beloved youngest character in Ride would look like? Well, wonder no more! Thanks to a little creative PhotoShop skills and my sweet Barbi girl, you can now have a visual of the boy wonder. She's amazing and madly in love with Mini. She threatens to kidnap him. I think he'd love visiting her, but would miss Bella oodles. He may need to make a trip to see her one day. And because the little man adores Mr. Darcy so much I've included some pics of him as well. Here's another little piece of trivia for you about Masen: he has a theme song. His Aunt Rose has given him a song of his own. Its "Break Your Heart" by Taio Cruz. Go check it out!

Dearest Riders,

As usual I was tweeting yesterday, and I was complaining about how A) I didn't have Photo Shop (and that I desperately wanted it!) and B) how I'd never be able to justify buying the program because I'd never figure out how to use the blasted thing!

Then an angel sent me a message asking a single question: "What do you need?"

The angel's "name" was MistressElektra, and she's an acquaintance of mine on Twitter. I was shocked! Then I was confused!! What DID I want? I had no clue! I knew I wanted something new, and beautiful and exciting, but I really didn't have anything in mind, so to speak. So I did the only rational, reasonable thing: I gave her carte blanche to do whatever she so desired. She read a few chapters of Ride (I hope they weren't too awful to have to muddle through, Mistress.) and sent me this when I got to work today: (WARNING: it's sizzling hot!)

Okay, yeah. That's hot! I WARNED you! FYI- That is exactly how I see Bella when she's not in "teacher mode", and Edward? Spot. ON! If only he had his tatts. But I'm not picky. This baby is perfect! You people can just "imagine" his tatts, okay?

Chapter Twelve....No Thank You

This chapter gave me so many problems. Masen is always easy to write. Maybe I'm a nine year old boy trapped in a 30-something year old woman's body. Ewww. The thought is repulsive. Or maybe it's just the fact that I spend so much time with kids that I find writing about them easier than complicated bike smex? I don't have very much experience with the later (okay- I have ZILCH experience with the later) so I'm guessing that's why it was so difficult to write. In light of my love/hate relationship with chapter 12 I wrote an ode to chapter 12: Going Public and Getting Wild. Stick with me, there's pics at the end....

Chapter Twelve,

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways....

1) You were sooo difficult to write!

2) You made me lose sleep- and I NEED my sleep, dammit!

3) You had me doubting whether I would ever finish this fic. Seriously.

4) I had a constant headache for a month and a half while I wrote you.

5)You drove me to start reading new a UNCOMPLETED fanfic just to avoid writing you, and I HATE reading incomplete fics... I am now up to 57 fics that I am currently reading that are incomplete. Grrrr.

6) Well I don't have a Number six at the moment but I may just think of one....

Thank you's and TMI

I don’t usually narrate on my chapters, but I felt a strong need to do so on this one, for many reasons.

Firstly, Chapter 11 was written in love and appreciation... OF YOU! I can never be able to fully express how much I appreciate the fact that you read what I write. I'm overwhelmed that any one of you, not to mention ALL of you, bother to read the words I string together. Your kind words and encouraging reviews warm my heart each chapter. I’m so happy that you are enjoying this Ride so far. I know I sure am! So, THANK YOU, RIDERS! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

Secondly, this is the chapter that I always swore would never be. Why? Well, because this is a flashback to October, and in every single fic out there there’s the requisite Halloween Party scene. I’m not a big fan of Halloween, (neither is Bella) and I had no desire to write such a scene. Bella had other ideas. Thus the only reason for this chapter. It does offer some further insight to their feelings as well as a look at the relationships between some of the fringe characters and our DILFward and BikerElla.

Thirdly, this chapter touches on the true theme of this fic. Pretty hefty order for a chapter that was never meant to be, huh? Here’s some hopefully interesting backstory about Ride for you:

The Ride of Your Life was a fic that I had started as an original story, something I was developing and working on to write as a novel. It was, at its inception, dubbed “Learning to Breathe.” It only became a fanfic after reading that Ninapolitan was running a contest and I wanted to enter. So I tweaked and reworked it to fit within the TwiFanFiction world, and wrote what came to me. After I wrote that final line of what was to become chapter one I knew I had to title the o/s The Ride of Your Life, with the intentions of expanding it from the very beginning. Once I extended it, I wanted to title chapter one, The Ride of Your Life, but name the entire fic Learning to Breathe.

One of my closest and dearest friends, Kat, convinced me otherwise. After pre-reading Chapter two she was positive that this story was about Bella and Edward’s ride through life and finding each other. So the title remained The Ride of your Life. The underlying currant of being able to finally open up your airways and take a deep, life bringing breath after a life time of gasping for air still remains in Ride. There’s no way I could tell this story without it.

That becomes evident in this chapter for the first time in the story. Bella is truly living and breathing for the first time in many, many years. Edward has done that for her. Masen is doing that for her. And by the miracle of love, Bella is doing it for the two “men” in her life.

These characters have a long way to go and many hurdles to cross. Just this week I was shown that very clearly. Their Ride won’t always be smooth. Who’s ever is, though? What I can insure is that they will Ride off into the sunset of “happily ever afters.”

It would appear that, while I AM the author and creator of this story, that I’m also on this Ride. No matter how much I may THINK I’m in control, this is ultimately Bella and Edward’s story. Thank you for coming along for the Ride.

A New Addition to the Family...

Forever, Liz has an announcement!

There's been a birth in the family, so to speak. In light of the recent revisions to ff.net and the drama going down on Twitter over it all I decided that Ride needed a "permanent" home. One where I was the keeper of the delete key. So, over the last week I've been cooking a bun in the oven and making a happy little nest for my baby.

For the most part its finished. It may need a tweak or two, and there maybe some additions at some point, but I think we can officially mark February 22, 2010 its birthday!

• No, I am not pulling Ride from ff.net or Twilighted.
• Yes, I will continue to update on those sites for as long as they allow me to.
• Do I think Ride will be pulled? Well, its a possibility. It has a M rating, but it really is a NC-17 story line. If they want to pull it, that's their call, and I will not fight it or wish them any ill-will. I knew full well what I was posting when I posted it.

Catching Up and Goings Ons

One more post tonight and then I'm DONE!

I just sent Ch9 to the first beta. Wait you don't know about the second beta? Well, its kinda old news. One of my much adored readers TwilightMundi has agreed to take on my tangled mess of words strung haphazardly together and make them make sense! Yay, TM! She has a nickname. Of course she does. Hang around me long enough and you're gonna get one. Its a scientific fact. Anywhooo, just as DizzyGrl28 is my beloved Darth Beta, TwilightMundi has become my Grammar Guru. Both beta, and do a fan-fricking-tastic job of it I might add, but they each have their "strengths" and both make my words fit for you to read. So, once I finish the chapter it heads to GG first, she looks it over, picks through all the gunk and deems it acceptable! Then I send to Dizzy, who has, nine times out of times out of ten, seen the pile of rubbish that is now a little neater pile of rubbish, (thanks to GG), several times at this point because Dizzy is who gets the middle of the night ping in Gchat when I'm freaking out, or I can't find something, or I just want someone to bounce ideas off. Anyway, Dizzy notes anything that GG may have missed and makes sure everything is still on track with Ride and makes perfect little comments about this or that. (I adore those, BTW.) ALL that being said:

Ch9 is in the first stages of Beta'ing. It's in GG's very capable hands, and will be handed off to Dizzy ASAP. Enters my dilemma... I usually update as SOON a chappie is finished and polished, but I'm not sure if I should this time, and here's why:

7Stories Podcast

So I have acquired a pretty amazing gaggle of fanfic friends, and we're all pretty messed up. No really. We love to Skype and giggle and swear and say "peen". A LOT. See, I TOLD you we were messed up. So a few of us decided to do something even MORE messed up and share with all the fandom just how far our messied-upness goes and start a podcast.

We call ourselves the 7Stories. We each have our own story to tell and we just happen to be telling ours together. We have a blog, a twitter, a Facebook page, and a gmail account. Most importantly we have a fully launched podcast! Our first epi launched this week! Man, we really are serious about doing this!

A Christmas Gift for My Riders

Dear Riders! (see I used it!),

I have written you all a little Christmas gift. Its a Christmas outtake from TRoYL. I have to warn you that it has a few spoilers because it jumps ahead of the story, so obviously there will be a little glimpse into the future of these two love birds. There's a mild lemon for my Lemonaids and sweet loving for my Tweethearts. I am so grateful that you are all reading. You say the sweetest things and aid me in my delusion that I can write. Hahaha! We should all really be committed for our delusions. I'm just saying that birds of a feather... ;)

The Women of FanFic...

I am quick to admit that I am a newcomer to the fandom. Hell, I only read my first Twific back in May, so I'm still cutting my fic teeth.

The first fic I read was by LolaShoes, "Let Your Light Shine" and I immediately read the sequel, "A Life Extraordinary". From there I started scouring popular authors' favorite lists to find new fics to read.

In my search I came across lesser known (to me) fics. Fics like "Legacy", "Horizons", and "Teacher's Pet" (Which I have rec-ed on this blog). I fully intended to be entertained by these silly works of fiction. What I didn't expect, was to come to deeply respect and care for their authors, but I have done just that.

You should know that I have out of this world Real Life friends. They support, love, and put up with my crazy ass. I love spending every possible moment with those fleshy peeps of mine. I'm a BIG hugger, so I love to lavish them with hugs! There's nothing like looking at your bestie and not having to say a word, they just get you! Scary, or should I say, amazingly enough, I have come to feel the same about a group of women whom I have never met, but I hope and pray that will someday change.

I think we are all pretty clear about how I feel about my Darth Beta, Dizzygrl28. The simplest way to say it is that I love her. She not only fixes my messes, but she never laughs at my stupid mistakes, she scours the Interwebs for the perfect song for my chappies, she laughs with me, she celebrates with me, and she talks me off of bridges. I am doing everything in my power to meet this woman next year. If for no other reason but to thank her personally for what she has done for me. She has given me confidence and wings. She is my biggest cheerleader and yet, she lurks in the background. I can't wait to give her the biggest hug when I finally stand before her. Consider yourself warned, Mel!

While I adore Dizzy, I have come to understand that the way we feel about our fic relationship isn't exclusive to the two of us. Most authors feel this way about their betas. I love that idea! But I have come to associate with a circle of ladies that I feel strongly about as well. Some are readers, women who have reached out in a review or PM and we struck up a friendship. Others are fellow writers, women whose fics I have read and written to them, and they responded to my reviews. I'd like to mention these ladies now.

There's Cutest, (AKA Bqotfu or Bbetica) who happens to live about 340 miles away and in the same state as I do. Cutest writes the most amazing CSI-esque fics: "Crime Scene Denials & Forensic Anglels" and most recently "Blindsided". She has quickly become my "ficsis" (think Fic + Sis). We are so much alike, and have spent many hours chatting away on GChat about our fics and out RLs. I do believe she may just be the cutest thing I haven't met. Yet. ;) (soon, bb, soon!)

There's my own Personal Pirate, AD76 (AKA AutumnDreamer, Legacyff) Who writes "Legacy". This woman is the yen to my yang. She is every bit as crazy as I am, and maybe even more. I love that she doesn't mince words and "takes no crap". Not only do I respect AD's work, as she is an amazing author, but I respect her opinion as well. She is the first to tell me if something isn't working or needs to be tweaked, (well, after Dizzy, that is). Both Cutest and AD are pre-readers for Ride, and I'm sure you'll recognize their pen names from my A/Ns. Their input and opinions are invaluable to me! Thanks, ladies! I lub u crazy kids!

Then there's Lee723. Lee/Lisa/Twinsie/Crazy Ass. She's known by all these names. Lee is a reader and someone who makes my days easier to deal with. She tweets me throughout the day with crazy, funny comments and always brings a smile to my face. We, also have found quite a few similarities in one another, thus the Wonder Twins. We believe that we are twins separated at birth, although I was clearly born thirteen years before her. Gaw, did I really just admit that? Eeeep! You complete me, Twinisie!

Enter Megsly07. Meg! This is my time to go fangirl! Meg writes "Through Your Eyes", "Horizons", "A Dark Horizon", and "Boxing the Compass" among others. Meg can bring me from hysterical laughter to snotsobbing tears, in the same chapter. This woman, in conjunction with Cutest, has made it her personal mission to beat the ever loving wussperve out of me. (Wussperv=someone who fears the angst=me) Lately she's been pulling me into her GDocs and letting me see the master at work. It's truly humbling. Her comedic timing and sick perversion for all things heartfail have endeared her to me. One day, when she doesn't have so much crap on her plate, she may even read MY fic. Haha! Kidding, Meg. Kidding. <3

I would also like to mention a few ladies who leave amazing, constructive reviews and who twitter with me throughout the day. Janiiith, TwiChicky, TwilightMundi, and recently Breakawaygirl25. You ladies encourage me more than you will ever know, and it is a pleasure to say that I "know" you. Thanks for reading and investing in this little Ride of mine! ;)

The Watcher O/S

MONTHS ago I wrote an o/s for the "I Love 80's Music" Contest. This contest held zero interest to me. Hell, I was intrenched in the 80's the FIRST time they were popular, do I REALLY need to live them again? I didn't think so. But then, WearingWords had to go pimping this contest all over Twitter, and somehow my interest was piqued.

Was it the fact that the fic had to based and closely follow an 80's song? Or was that it was required to have lemon(s)? Maybe it was the fact that I decided to enter the contest on a MONDAY and the deadline was on FRIDAY? (I know, Imma crazy) Or perhaps it was the 10K limit (high limit)? Or even the fact that it was an anonymous contest? Regardless of WHY I entered, by Monday evening I had messaged DizzyGrl28 and informed her of my plan. By that time I had a song and a basic outline conjured up to bounce off of her. She liked it, and like always, she was very supportive and encouraging. She just KNEW I could write this and have it ready to submit in THREE days. So I went to work.

By Wednesday I was wondering "what the hell I was thinking when I emailed the directors of the contest to let them know my song choice?! " My MAJOR FAIL moment came when I was GChatting with Dizzy on Wednesday night and she asked about the lemon. She was wondering how I was planned to work out the logistics of human male parts working on/in vampire female parts. My response was something along the lines of, "Og, my god. I have no clue. I am so fucked. How am I going to make this work?"

What's the big deal right? I mean it's all just make believe anyways, right? Wrong. Its got to be BELIEVABLE! And come on- who's going to believe that ANY man in his right mind would sick his wang in a freezing cold metal pipe that could snap it off when it constricted around him. (This was my exact description of how I imagined sex between a human male and vamp female would be when I was talking with Dizz.) This did not seem appealing to me in the least. And I don't have a wang that I am overprotective of. Thus began the the great smexin' search.

My Darth Beta whisked herself away, with only the "BRB" glaring in the chat window.

The next time she popped in a few minutes later, she explained that she had been jumping in and out of chat rooms and forums asking random, obscene questions about vamp/human sex. She the began scouring the fics for similar situations in them. As it turns out, these fics are rare and I now know why. I had a feeling that I would owe this woman BIG TIME for this one.

And hour and a half later the lemon and its logistics had been worked out, I was no longer panicked, and miracles of miracles, Dizzy had even tricked me into writing an outline! (The woman really IS a miracle worker!)

I finished up the o/s shipped it off to Darth Beta and took a deep breath. By Thursday night I had the o/s back and fully betaed. First thing Friday I sent the damn thing to the contest and almost puked. Thus began my month and a half vigil of the reviews. But that is all over now! Its my my fic again! And I have posted it! WOOT!

A few notes:

-This is a TRUE one shot. It WILL NOT be continued. Sorry folks.

-I am still and always be a review h00r. So GO REVIEW!

-Wussward is one of my fav Edwards so far. But Dadward is my #1!

I hope you enjoy The Watcher, I am proud of this fic, and I'm so glad I did it. I will say that it will be a while before I do anther contest again... the stress is more then I can take right now! LOL

Chapter Five- Masen's Music Lesson & Meeting Mr. Darcy

I have birthed a monster. At just under 12K, Chapter 5 deserved a mammoth of title.

Nothing about this chapter was easy. Three hundred words into it and I was blocked. Not going anywhere. After three days of staring at the screen I literally yelled, "Fuck it!" and walked away. Only to come back ten minutes latter, find a WC and start writing in a different place in the story line. That seemed to do the trick.

Four hours and 5K later, not only was the block gone, but the part of the chapter that has tortured me so was fixed and finished. Little did I know that I was FAR from finished!

Once again, DizzyGrl28 was there to talk me down from high places and encourage me. "Write what you feel comfortable with, Liz." "They'll read it if you write it. Stop worrying." She was right. It does work, and its an important chapter, but not the most important one. That one is yet to be written, and it kinda scares me.

Until then, I'll keep letting the story unfold. I love that you are reviewing! Its my favorite email notice to get. I've been meeting some of you in WCs and I have to say, you are talented writers in your own right. To know that my readers are writers is humbling, because I know what you are sacrificing to take the time to read my silly little fic. The Chapter from Hell

It's clear that we are getting close to Halloween, because even my fic is into the mood. Is it just me, or is it far to soon for me to be getting writer's block? I sure as hell think it it! So why is it that 1K into Chapter 4, the chapter I'v been dying to write, by the fucking way, I can't find the words? Bella and Eddo have clammed the hella up and refuse to give it up. These two are a couple of fucking teases, I swear!

I've done every trick I can think of, I forced it- writing when I so didn't even feel like writing. I've tried a WC(Writer's Challenge)- what happened the last time I did a WC? Oh, well I wrote an epic 4,500 words in 3 hours, that's what! But this last time, I FELL ASLEEP! I know, right? Sad. (In my defense I haven't been well, but that's not important.) I've begged other authors and readers alike to finish it for me, and I have no idea why each and everyone have refused my very generous offer to guest write a chapter of "Ride". :snickers: I have also tried just forgetting about it. Walk away from the MacTop and just do something fun and non-FF related. *GASP* Non-FF related? It does exist people, and I did it. I went to a concert and had a ton of fun, only to come home and glare menacingly at the beloved MacT0p. I'm starting to get pissed, people.

I'm under a time crunch here. Monday is Update Day, and whilst I have a fuck awesome beta, that can turn a fic around like nobody's business, it isn't fair to hand her a fic Sunday and say, "Can I get this for Monday afternoon?" Dizz has her own amazing shit she's writing, I'm not the only author she betas for, not to mention a real life filled with job, home, and a couple of teenaged manboys. So see my point? Imma freaking out over the deadline thing here.

I have one more trick by my not-so-author's- sleeve. I'm just gonna skip the part that's hitching me up and try to write around it, and come back to it later. Tonight is writing night. I'm goning to try to find a WC and live there until Ch 4 is written and off my back. I really just want to bitch slap this chapter, really I do.

So... I'm doing everything I can to pop this chappie out to you by Monday. No excuses, no extensions. Imma doing the best this baby fic writer can do! Cross your fingers and hope that this works, people. I need all the luck I can get.

Chapter Three- Beaches and Butterflies, Updated!!

Chapter Three: Beaches and Butterflies has been updated!! Wow! We're really doing this, huh? I'm sooo excited!

To celebrate my b-day yesterday, I thought I'd post some goodies to go with the chapter.

First here are a few pictures of Bella's beach house. It will be explained soon how she can afford such luxury! BTW- I pass this house everyday on my way to and from work. Its really MY dream house, but I'll never have it. At least Bella can! Look closely at the rooftop (right side of pic) and you can see the roof deck that Bella and Edward will be spending some "quality time" on, soon enough!

Next, here's Mr. Darcy! What a cutie!
